Sarzamin Ensemble

Shooka Afshar founded the Sheez ensemble in Dec 2014 with two virtuous musicians of the greater Boston area,  Geni Skendo - flute and wind instruments, Tev Stevig - guitar and lute instruments. During the last 4 years the members changed. The current active members are Shooka Afshar, Leader & Soprano, and Matt Savage, Pianist & composer. In late 2017 Shooka changed the name of her band, to Sarzamin Ensemble. Sarzamin ensemble presents original, folk/traditional and world music. Currently their journey is portraying the subconscious mind

"Sarzamin" in Parsi means "Land". I chose this name, as a remembrance of my beautiful homeland - Iran -, for which I sing and compose music.
